Hey everyone! It’s me, Max. Ya know, that blogger who used to actually blog now ‘n then?
Well, I am still alive! I’ve dropped off the face of the earth for the past few months, I know – something came up that required surviving, let’s say, but I figure it’s time to get my head back into the game.
I don’t have a blog post for today, but I figured I’d link to some great articles I’ve read lately. I’ve been thinking a ton about the social justice movement and why it feels so culty to me. Leaving such a high-demand group as my Asian Baptist church has definitely sharpened my cultdar, and it pings like crazy around the more dedicated SJWs (many of whom go to my school.) Here are some articles I’ve skimmed while researching the problems with the modern SJ movement.
It’s Right to Rebel, Outlook India – is there a point in trying to change the world for a better?
The Totalitarian Doctrine of Social Justice Warriors, The Observer – really resonated with me re: how SJ activists can speech police, silence ex-Muslims, and be so dramatic that they accidentally hurt their cause
Social Justice Bullies: The Authoritarianism of Millennial Social Justice, Medium – SJ activists, doublethink, and horseshoe theory
I don’t agree with everything said in these articles, but I definitely think there’s something (many somethings at this rate) frighteningly toxic about SJ culture, and I’d love to talk one-on-one with anyone who’s been sensing the same thing!
That’s it for now – you’ll hear from me soon, life willing!
